YOUR DATA, EXPLAINED

Privacy policy

Stonewatch is a local-first recorder. This policy separates the footage that stays on your hardware from the limited information used by our website, checkout, licensing, email, and support systems.

Last updated October 19, 2026

This policy explains how Stonewatch Software Inc. (“Stonewatch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, processes personal information when you visit getstonewatch.com, join the waitlist, use the Stonewatch free trial, preorder or use a Stonewatch Home license, contact support, or make a privacy request.

For privacy and legal questions or to exercise a privacy right, email [email protected]. For product and license-delivery support, email [email protected].

Your camera footage is not a Stonewatch cloud service. Video, audio, camera configuration, recordings, detections, and ordinary recorder activity stay on hardware you control unless you choose to export or share them independently. Stonewatch licensing does not receive those materials.

1. Information we process

Website and waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you submit, when you submitted it, which pages led you to sign up, and basic browser information. Cloudflare receives connection and device information when it serves the site, and uses it to protect the site from abuse.

We and our analytics and advertising partners, including Google, automatically collect information about your visit and your device, and how you interact with the site. We use it to understand and improve the site and for related purposes, which may include advertising. See Cookies and similar storage for your choices.

Pricing and preorder

When you use the pricing page or checkout, Paddle collects the order and payment information it needs, which may include your name, email, billing address, country, tax details, payment method, and device and fraud-prevention information.

Paddle shares the order details we need to deliver and support your license, such as your email, what you bought, the amount paid, and any refund or dispute. We never receive your full payment card details.

Fulfillment, email, and support

We keep records of purchases, licenses, email deliveries, refunds, and support actions, and we protect sensitive values in those records. Our email provider receives the address and content of each email we send you, including license emails.

If you contact us, we process your message, your contact details, and the order and license information needed to help you. Stonewatch support will never ask you to send an activation credential.

License activation and validation

The recorder sends device information to our licensing service, which we use for fingerprinting.

Logs and recovery copies

Our providers and our own systems keep logs and encrypted backups so that the service can be secured and restored after a failure.

2. Why we use information

Depending on your location and relationship with us, we process information:

We do not sell personal information for money.

3. Service providers and Paddle

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse, or as part of a genuine business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards. Each provider may keep its own security, transaction, and compliance records under its terms and legal duties.

4. Cookies and similar storage

We and our partners, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies on this site for analytics and related purposes, which may include advertising. Visitors in some regions are shown a notice on their first visit. You can decline at any time with the control below; declining stops this collection and is remembered in browser storage on this site. Blocking cookies in your browser has a similar effect.

During a visit, browser storage remembers which page you started on, so a waitlist signup can be credited to that page. It does not store your email. Cloudflare may use essential cookies or similar signals for security. Paddle may use cookies or browser storage needed for price preview, checkout, fraud prevention, and payment. Blocking essential storage may prevent those features from working.

5. Retention

We keep waitlist information until the beta announcement and related list administration are complete or you ask to leave. We keep purchase, license, refund, delivery, and support records for as long as needed to support your license, resolve disputes, and meet tax, accounting, or other legal obligations. We delete or de-identify information when those purposes no longer require it.

Backups are kept for a limited time, so deleted information may remain in a backup until it expires.

6. International processing

The providers above operate infrastructure and personnel in multiple regions. Information may therefore be processed outside the region where you live, including in the United States. Where required, we and our providers use contractual or other lawful transfer safeguards. Local laws may allow courts, regulators, or authorities to access information in those locations.

7. Security

We use security measures suited to the sensitivity of the information, including encryption, access controls, and backups. No transmission or storage system is completely secure. Keep your activation credential private and contact support promptly if you believe it is compromised.

8. Your choices and rights

You may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a portable copy of personal information, or object to certain processing, where applicable law grants that right. You may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. You may also complain to the privacy or data-protection authority where you live.

Email [email protected]. Tell us the request and the email or support reference needed to locate the relevant record. We may verify your identity and authority before acting. Some transaction, security, fraud, backup, and legal records cannot be deleted immediately or may need to be retained. Paddle controls privacy requests for the payment and buyer records it processes independently; use Paddle’s privacy channels for those records.

9. Children

The website and paid license are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age at which they may consent to this processing in their location. Contact us if you believe a child submitted information.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the product, providers, or law changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required. Material changes do not retroactively reduce rights required by law.
